Due to a family/personal situation, I will be, for all intents and purposes, closing the rescue.  We will continue to have the sanctuary horses: Tucker, Velvet, Jackie, Babydoll, Meg, Leiha, Candy, Sassy, and Gwen.  The 501c3 is still in place and these horses' sponsors can continue to help support them for a tax deduction until 1/2009.  However, we need to find new homes for all of our available horses.  Please see our Available Horses page for the horses that we need to move into new homes quickly.  Please pass the word around about these horses and help us to find them homes to go to.

We are dedicated to helping abused, neglected, starved, unwanted, and slaughter bound equines. We need to educate the public about the fact that horse slaughter does exist and that there are alternatives. We also need to educate the public in regards to the proper care and maintenance of the equine species.  We try to help horse owners as well as our equine friends.

We are located just northwest of Wahoo, NE. We take in horses like Perfection (pictured above) who are starved, are heading to slaughter, have been abused or neglected, and horses that have been donated to us so that their owner knows that they will find a good home instead of going to auction and probably to slaughter. Because of the ban on horse slaughter, the horse market is extremely depressed.  There are registered weanling/yearling stock going at auction for $5 per animal.  Private people are not in the majority of the buyers anymore.  This being the case, would you willingly send your equine companion to auction?

Please browse through our pages and see how we are helping these horses. There are also articles on horse care and training, as well as alternative therapies for horses. If you are interested in adopting a horse, please fill out an adoption application. We are also always looking for donations for the care of our horses. Donations come in many forms, including volunteer hours, services, and monetary. Feel free to contact us anytime, about any questions you may have.
